TBR: Winterwood

Winterwood is next on my TBR, and I’m already enchanted by its promise. With its eerie woods, haunting magic, and a strong YA mystery at the core, this novel checks all my favorite boxes. I’m drawn to stories with a moody atmosphere and just enough magic to blur the edges of reality—and Winterwood seems like a story that fully leans into that. I’m looking forward to getting swept up in its quiet tension and forest-bound secrets.

From the Jacket of Winterwood

“Spellbinding.” —Stephanie Garber, #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Caraval series
“A delectably immersive, eerie experience.” —Kirkus Reviews

From New York Times bestselling author of The Wicked Deep comes a haunting romance perfect for fans of Practical Magic, where dark fairy tales and enchanted folklore collide after a boy, believed to be missing, emerges from the magical woods—and falls in love with the witch determined to unravel his secrets.

Be careful of the dark, dark wood…

Especially the woods surrounding the town of Fir Haven. Some say these woods are magical. Haunted, even.

Rumored to be a witch, only Nora Walker knows the truth. She and the Walker women before her have always shared a special connection with the woods. And it’s this special connection that leads Nora to Oliver Huntsman—the same boy who disappeared from the Camp for Wayward Boys weeks ago—and in the middle of the worst snowstorm in years. He should be dead, but here he is alive, and left in the woods with no memory of the time he’d been missing.

Nora can feel an uneasy shift in the woods at Oliver’s presence. And it’s not too long after that Nora realizes she has no choice but to unearth the truth behind how the boy she has come to care so deeply about survived his time in the forest, and what led him there in the first place. What Nora doesn’t know, though, is that Oliver has secrets of his own—secrets he’ll do anything to keep buried, because as it turns out, he wasn’t the only one to have gone missing on that fateful night all those weeks ago.

For as long as there have been fairy tales, we have been warned to fear what lies within the dark, dark woods and in Winterwood, New York Times bestselling author Shea Ernshaw shows us why.

Why Winterwood is on My TBR

I was immediately drawn to Winterwood—the title and cover alone conjure such vivid imagery: a snow-draped forest full of secrets. I’m expecting a story as atmospheric as its aesthetic suggests.

Beyond the setting, it’s the mystery that has me hooked. The jacket hints at something layered and haunting, with just the right touch of magic.

At its heart, Winterwood promises a fairytale—dark, mature, and compelling. And there’s nothing quite like getting lost in a story that blends eerie beauty with emotional depth.

Forgotten Cove Book Cover

Thanks for stopping by!

Love stories with heart and magic? Check out my novel, Forgotten Cove, the first book in the Hailing Cove series by T.G. Elsher.

Elle Wildes was a normal teenage girl. Or at least she thought she was until her mother sent her to her grandma’s house in Hailing Cove. Anticipating a boring summer, Elle’s world is turned upside down when she realizes the sleepy coastal town holds its own mysteries and those from her past as well.

When Elle’s forgotten memories come back to haunt her, she discovers the secrets of her family’s lineage and the responsibilities that come with it. But with two dreamy guys vying for her attention, she is taken on a roller coaster ride of heartache and betrayal as she discovers her identity in an unknown magical town.

Reader Praise

What can I say about T.G. Elsher’s debut novel, Forgotten Cove? Elsher is a gifted storyteller who immerses readers in the enchanting world of Hailing Cove, where witchcraft and magic blend seamlessly with a cast of loveable, deeply human characters. Elle Wildes, the relatable protagonist, navigates her powers, friendships, and heartbreak with authenticity that pulls at your heartstrings. The book masterfully combines mystery, romance, and coming-of-age themes, keeping me hooked from the first page to the last. The emotional climax, written with breathtaking beauty, moved me to tears. T.G. Elsher may well be this generation’s L.J. Smith, creating stories that are both magical and profoundly moving. I truly couldn’t get enough!
