The Dark Divine by Bree Despain is high on my to-be-read list. It follows Grace Divine, the daughter of a pastor, whose life unravels when a childhood friend returns carrying a dark secret that threatens her family and everything she thought she knew. This one promises tension, romance, and just enough supernatural danger to keep me hooked.

From the Jacket of The Dark Divine by Bree Despain
Grace Divine, daughter of the local pastor, always knew something terrible happened the night Daniel Kalbi disappeared–the night she found her brother Jude collapsed on the porch, covered in blood–but she has no idea what a truly monstrous secret that night held.
The memories her family has tried to bury resurface when Daniel returns, three years later, and enrolls in Grace and Jude’s high school. Despite promising Jude she’ll stay away, Grace cannot deny her attraction to Daniel’s shocking artistic abilities, his way of getting her to look at the world from new angles, and the strange, hungry, glint in his eyes.
The closer Grace gets to Daniel, the more she jeopardizes her life, as her actions stir resentment in Jude and drive him to embrace the ancient evil Daniel unleashed that horrific night. Grace must discover the truth behind the boys’ dark secret…and the cure that can save the ones she loves. But she may have to lay down the ultimate sacrifice to do it–her soul.
Why The Dark Divine is on my TBR
The Dark Divine by Bree Despain sounds so good. To be honest, I’m already obsessed. There’s a mystery, something clearly paranormal at play, and the makings of a dark, brooding, steamy romance. The Dark Divine is a bit of a hidden gem—less well-known than some of its early-2010s YA paranormal peers, but still well regarded in the genre for a reason. It promises to be a total page-turner, and I need that. I can’t wait to start. It’s also a three-part series, so if The Dark Divine is as good as I hear and predict, I’ll have plenty of great reading material ahead of me!
