TBR: Daughters of Eve by Lois Duncan

Daughters of Eve is high on my to-be-read list. This standalone YA horror thriller explores the tension and power struggles within a high school feminist secret society that soon takes a dark, dangerous turn. The story offers a cultish atmosphere and a deep dive into loyalty and moral complexity. I’m looking forward to reading this quietly unhinged story soon!

From the Jacket of Daughters of Eve by Lois Duncan

The girls at Modesta High School feel like they’re stuck in some anti-feminist time warp-they’re faced with sexism at every turn, and they’ve had enough. Sponsored by their new art teacher, Ms. Stark, they band together to form the Daughters of Eve. It’s more than a school club-it’s a secret society, a sisterhood. At first, it seems like they are actually changing the way guys at school treat them. But Ms. Stark urges them to take more vindictive action, and it starts to feel more like revenge-brutal revenge. Blinded by their oath of loyalty, the Daughters of Eve become instruments of vengeance. Can one of them break the spell before real tragedy strikes?

Why Daughters of Eve is on my TBR

Lois Duncan’s Daughters of Eve had me at “secret society!” Set in a high school where the girls are sick of being sidelined, this story follows a rising feminist club that slowly spirals into something darker—think The Craft, but without the magic.

I’m especially drawn to stories that explore power dynamics, loyalty, and moral gray areas. Daughters of Eve sounds cultish, chilling, and quietly unhinged in all the right ways.
